No need to fear the dentist in Airdrie, AB.
A dental visit shouldn’t be anything to worry about
Paying a visit to a dentist is probably not one of your favourite pastimes, not because you don’t want to maintain your oral health, but more because you think you may have to endure pain to reach that goal.
This dental fear is quite unfounded because of the use of modern dental sedation techniques. These techniques help us to keep dental pain to a minimum.
What is dental sedation?
Sedation dentistry can be used for almost all dental procedures, ranging from quite routine teeth cleaning to more invasive procedures like tooth extractions. Dental sedation is used to allow a patient to feel relaxed while getting dental treatments done. Dental sedation for wisdom teeth has helped people overcome their fear for dental treatments.
A multitude of sedation techniques are available, and they all function in different ways. These methods help to combat dental fear and anxiety. Here at You First Dental, we use nitrous oxide to help our patients relax.
How sedation is used at You First Dental in Airdrie
We use what is termed inhaled minimal sedation. This is the only type of sedation which allows you to recover sufficiently to drive home by yourself after the visit to our clinic. We use a mixture of a gas called nitrous oxide, better known as “laughing gas” as well as oxygen.
The gas is supplied through a mask that fits over your nose. The gas combination just allows you to relax while the dentist attends to your teeth without you feeling any anxiety. We can control the amount of gas quite easily, so the amount of sedation is also controlled. The effects of the gas wear off quite quickly after use.
Here at You First Dental, even if you do not need to use sedation dentistry, you may also require a local anaesthetic. This is used to numb the site area throughout the dental treatment so that you don’t encounter any painful twinges.
Why you shouldn’t delay that dental visit any longer
If you require any type of dental procedure, a fear of the dentist shouldn’t stop you making an appointment here at our Airdrie dental clinic. Our aim is to provide a minimally painful and stressful dental experience through the most suitable sedation method that suits your personal circumstances.
