Dental Sedation

No need to fear the dentist in Airdrie, AB.

A visit to the dentist doesn’t have to be scary

Paying a visit to a dentist is probably not one of your favourite pastimes, not because you don’t want to maintain your oral health, but more because you’re worried you may have to endure pain to reach that goal.

This dental fear is quite unfounded with the use of modern dental sedation techniques. These techniques help us to keep dental pain to a minimum.

What is dental sedation?

Sedation dentistry can be used for almost all dental procedures, ranging from routine teeth cleaning to more invasive procedures like tooth extractions. Dental sedation may allow a patient to feel relaxed while getting dental treatments done. Dental sedation for wisdom teeth has helped people overcome their fear for this more invasive dental treatment.

To help to combat dental fear and anxiety at You First Dental, we use nitrous oxide to help our patients relax.

How sedation is used at You First Dental in Airdrie

We use what is termed inhaled minimal sedation. This is the only type of sedation which allows you to recover sufficiently to drive home by yourself after the visit to our clinic. We use a mixture of a gas called nitrous oxide, better known as “laughing gas” as well as oxygen.

The gas is supplied through a mask that fits over your nose. The gas combination just allows you to relax while our dentist attends to your teeth without you feeling any anxiety. We can control the amount of gas so the amount of sedation is also easily controlled. The effects of the gas wear off very quickly after use.

Why you shouldn’t delay your dental visit any longer

If you require any type of dental procedure, a fear of the dentist shouldn’t keep you from making an appointment at our Airdrie dental clinic. Our aim is to provide a minimally painful and minimally stressful dental experience.

You can schedule a free consultation to explore dental sedation or book an appointment at your convenience.
